The Lancasters at Bayswater

We are currently undertaking the removal of a lead traced coating from the façade of a luxury residential building in Central London called The Lancasters. Intercity Contractors are fully qualified in safe lead removal and have been contracted by Grade I & II Listed renovation specialists Rosewood.

The Lancasters is a Bayswater residential development overlooking Hyde Park. It was originally built as 15 stucco-fronted terraced houses dating back to the mid 1800s. The 124-meter-long French Renaissance style concrete façade of the building retains its original characterful aesthetic whilst the structure behind was greatly altered between 2006 and 2011 to accommodate for 77 lateral and duplex apartments as well as a new multi-level underground car park.

We have been issued the task of removing the diminished paint coating from the exterior of the building without causing any damage to the facia of the original terrace, whilst scrupulously controlling any resulting dust exposure. We have been combining controlled Shotblasting methods with ThermaTech Spraying to remove the paint in the least aggressive ways possible. This is a very specialist task as older paints can contain traces of lead which are harmful when inhaled or ingested. We have multiple strict safety precautions in place to ensure that no lead content is exposed to pedestrians or other contractors on the site. Intercity Contractors are lead trained and qualified shotblasters with extensive knowledge and specialist equipment to ensure the safe and controlled removal of this kind of coating.

Do you need help with removing some old paint coatings? Unsure of whether it contains lead? Intercity Contractors work closely with a team of scientists who can test samples that we take to their laboratory. We can perform tests on your coatings before fully undertaking the job to ensure maximum safety.
